The story
The clinic was moving to a new address and needed its patients, and Google, to find it. The brief was a site that explains each study in plain language, reassures first-time patients, and lets them book without calling.
Instead of a heavy framework I wrote a tiny static-site generator in Node with zero runtime dependencies. Pages are pre-rendered HTML with hand-written CSS, so they load instantly on a phone with a weak signal, and the content never depends on JavaScript.
Local SEO was the main goal: MedicalClinic structured data with every service, breadcrumbs, FAQ markup that mirrors the visible content, a sitemap and an llms.txt for AI search. Booking uses an embedded Google Calendar schedule that deliberately collects no health data, in line with Mexico’s privacy law. For October I added a pink-month campaign that turns itself off by date.
Engineering highlights
Zero-dependency SSG
A purpose-built Node generator with preview and production modes; previews are noindex and production fails the build on an invalid domain.
Local SEO done properly
MedicalClinic and service schema, FAQ markup matched to the page, canonical tags, sitemap, robots and llms.txt.
Booking without the risk
Google Calendar appointments with no health data collected, plus WhatsApp and a printable QR that goes straight to booking.
Trust signals
Radiologists’ licence numbers link to the national council’s public directory.
Accessible by default
Keyboard friendly, respects reduced motion, strict security headers on AWS Amplify, tested in CI.
